I got a lot more out of the single-game threads this last week. Sometimes the multiple-game threads get a lot of different thoughts mixed up. I'll be posting some more single gamers later on also.

The Middies look good to me again this week. They average 314 yards rushing (5.3 ypr!) against a Rice team that gives up 4.9 yards per rush. Rice will not be able to stop the Navy run game. Concerned about home-field advantage for the Owls? Think Texas where the Longhorns scored in bunches before the 1st half ended.

Navy's defense is not on top with their 340 yds./game given up and 22.3 points/game given up. However these numbers look good when you mention the 459 yds./game given up by Rice along with their 37.6 points per game allowed.

Until last week's victory over San Jose St. 28-24 at home, the only time Rice came within 3 of an opponent was at Duke in the early part of the season.

This may be my game of the week but I don't want to jinx it.

Thoughts?

I'm with you on this one BGO. We get some good press regarding the Commodores games down here in The Boro and Navy never gave up in their game at Vandy. They trailed after three qtrs but came back to win. Navy BY 10. Go Midshipmen!!!

Doesn't Rice and Navy run the same O. If they do, I would give Rice the advantage. I would think the line will start catching up with Navy. Rice is a good home team when they are a dog or a small fav. I am leaning Rice's way.

Thanks for the thoughts Fair.

I was thinking Navy would be able to score like Texas did since Texas ran up 322 yards in that game and Navy is a good running team. Rice was a big dog at home in the Texas game too.
